What to watch for when exterior siding shows wear or damage.

Your siding is important to protecting the exterior walls of your home from the elements, but it needs to be kept in top condition to ensure the best possible protection for your home. If your siding has suffered any damage or extensive wear and tear, you will need to schedule repairs right away. Here are three signs that you need to consider siding repair.

  1. Warped siding or moisture damage: If your siding is showing signs of moisture damage, such as warping, mold, or mildew, it’s likely the exterior walls of your home beneath the siding could have been affected by the moisture damage as well. You will want to schedule a siding repair right away, so we can repair or replace the siding and check the condition of the structure beneath the siding as well.
  2. Cracked siding: Cracked siding is less effective at keeping out moisture, pests, and the elements from the rest of your home. We can repair cracks and other small blemishes to your siding with our siding repair services.
  3. Signs of water damage inside your home: Water damage inside the home on the opposite side of your exterior walls is also a sign that you might need a siding repair. If your siding is ineffective at protecting your home, you might have moisture leaking into the home and causing bubbling wallpaper, peeling paint, etc. We can resolve the siding issue and stop the damage from progressing inside the home with our repairs.

Common questions

What are the signs siding needs repair?

Cracked, warped, loose or missing panels, bubbling or blistering, soft or rotting boards, mold or mildew, peeling paint inside the home on exterior walls, and rising energy bills can all point to siding problems.

Should I repair or replace my siding?

Isolated damage can usually be repaired. If damage is widespread, the siding is old, or there is rot behind it, replacement is often the better long-term value.

What siding works well in North Carolina's climate?

Vinyl and fiber cement are both popular in the Triad because they hold up to humidity and storms with little maintenance. See F2's exterior remodeling services.
